Fracture types Flashcards
Fracture plus dislocation of the metacarpal bone at the base of the thumb.
Bennet’s fracture
Mechanism of injury for Bennet’s fracture
Usually from forced abduction of thumb – common football injury
Punching
Extra-articular fracture of the distal radius with dorsal angulation and dorsal displacement, within 2cm of the articular surface.
Colle’s fracture
Extra-articular fracture of the distal radius with volar angulation and with or without volar displacement
Smith’s fracture
This is an intra-articular fracture of the distal radius with associated dislocation of the radio-carpal joint.
Barton’s fracture
Fracture of middle or distal third of radius and dislocation of distal radio-ulnar joint.
Galeazzi fracture
