what is the test for starch?
A
- add a few drops of iodine
2. if the colour changes from brown to blue/black there is starch present.

what is the test for protein?
A
- add 1cm3 of Buiret reagent.
2. if protein is present the colour changes form blue to purple

what is the test for glucose?
A
- add 1cm3 of Benedicts reagent
- place in a hot water bath at 70-80 degrees celcius for 3-5 minutes
- if it goes from blue to green a small amount of glucose is present.
- if it goes from blue to red a lot of glucose is present

what is the test for fats?
A
- add some pure ethanol and shake thoroughly
- put some distilled water into another tube
- pour some of the liquid part (no food) into the water.
- if fat is present it goes milky.
