2. if the colour changes from brown to blue/black there is starch present.

A
  1. add 1cm3 of Buiret reagent.

2. if protein is present the colour changes form blue to purple

what is the test for glucose?

A
  1. add 1cm3 of Benedicts reagent
  2. place in a hot water bath at 70-80 degrees celcius for 3-5 minutes
  3. if it goes from blue to green a small amount of glucose is present.
  4. if it goes from blue to red a lot of glucose is present

what is the test for fats?

A
  1. add some pure ethanol and shake thoroughly
  2. put some distilled water into another tube
  3. pour some of the liquid part (no food) into the water.
  4. if fat is present it goes milky.
