Free sugars
Any sugars found in food or drinks, or found naturally in honey, syrups or fruits
What will you need for short high intensity exercises
Carbohydrates
For longer exercises what type of food would you need
A mix of fats and carbohydrates
Complex carbohydrates
Carbohydrates that take longer to break down. Used for long exercises. E.g brown rice, brown bread
Simple carbohydrates
Carbohydrates that don’t take as long to break down and are used for short high intensity exercises
When should you have a pre match meal
You should have a light meal, high in carbohydrates, at least two hours
before training or competing.
Why shouldn’t you eat large portions before a match
If you have large amounts of food to digest directly before a competition it
will divert blood away from the muscles you need for performance.
