Flight Instruments Flashcards
What information does the trend vector provide for the airspeed and altitude tapes respectively?
Airspeed Tape: 10 second trend vector. Where the airspeed will be in 10 seconds if nothing changes.
Altitude Tape: 6 second trend vector. Where the altitude will be in 6 seconds if nothing changes.
What does the brown band on the altitude tape indicate?
Brown band represents ground below 550’ AGL
Describe the amplified procedure for the Altimeters set and crosschecked during the Before Start Check?
Set the current altimeter setting in all three altimeters and cross check the field elevation. All altimeters should indicate an altitude within 75 ft. of field elevation. For the purposes of RVSM verification, the maximum difference between the primary altimeter indications must not exceed 75 ft.
On battery power only, for how many minutes will the backup instruments provide information?
40 minutes.
Where do ADC 1, ADC 2, and Standby Instruments receive their information from?
ADC 1 receives data from Pitot 1, Static 1 and 4.
ADC 2 receives data from Pitot 2, Static 2 and 3.
Standby Instruments receive data from Pitot/Static 3
Describe the amplified procedure for the Standby Instruments check during the Receiving Check?
Conventional Standby Instruments:
Pull, rotate counterclockwise and release the Cage Knob to uncage the Standby Attitude Indicator. Ensure the Power Warning Flag is removed from view. Do not uncage the Standby Attitude Indicator sooner than 3 minutes after selecting the aircraft batteries to AUTO to ensure the gyro is stabilized. Verify that the Standby Airspeed Indicator displays 0.
ISIS:
After a 90 second alignment phase, ensure no abnormal indications are present. Check that the attitude and heading displayed are correct.
For what altitude range (AGL) will RA information be available?
Radio Altitude is visible below 2500’ AGL.
What tasks are prohibited during AHRS-900 alignment?
• During the alignment process, do not: – Perform the Autopilot Test – Perform the SPS Test – Cage the ISIS – Test the Flight Instruments – Move the aircraft
Describe the amplified procedure for AHRS set during the Receiving Check?
AH-800:
• Set the AHRS Mode Selector Switch to SLVD
AH-900:
• Initialize each FMS using the airport identifier for the departure airport
Describe attitude de-clutter and its purpose?
• During unusual attitudes, unnecessary information is removed, allowing the pilot to focus on essential information on the EADI – 65 deg bank – 30 deg pitch up – 20 deg pitch down • Chevron will point to the horizon
When should crews set a specific RA alert?
During CAT II approaches.
Where must the flight number be set? Where could it be set?
Must be set in the RMU, can be set in the chronometer/clock.
The standby instruments receive information from which aircraft pitot/static source?
Pitot/Static Tube 3
The ISIS is powered by what source on the LR/XR?
The ISIS is connected to an Essential DC Bus on the LR aircraft and the Backup Hot Bus on the XR aircraft.
When does the DFDR begin recording?
When the beacon is switched ON or when the airplane becomes airborne.
