Q

Describe the function of the Go-Around sub-mode.

A

Assuming the aircraft is below 2,500’ RA the Go-Around submode is activated when one of the GA buttons is pressed. ROL/GA will be the active lateral and vertical modes with a 10° pitch-up commanded on the flight director. Transition from Go- Around sub-mode to IAS vertical mode will automatically occur:

  • If, at any time, the speed is at or below 1.23 Vs
  • If, 20 seconds after Go-Around engagement, the speed is higher than 170 KIAS. In this case, 170 KIAS is targeted automatically.
  • If, 20 seconds after Go-Around engagement, the speed is within 5 knots of the pre-selected speed bug (the blue bug which is normally selected to Vga9), the pre-selected speed is maintained.

16
Q

During a TCAS Resolution Advisory with the autopilot engaged, what should be your initial response?

A

Turn the autopilot off.

17
Q

When must the PF keep his feet on the rudder pedals?

A

PF must keep feet on the rudder pedals below 10,000ft.

The PF will:
– ‘Guard’ yoke when operating below 10,000ft. with the autopilot on
– Command all changes to the FGCP when operating with the autopilot off

18
Q

Utilizing the autopilot, how would you change altitude?

A

Step 1: Choose a new altitude with ASEL knob
Step 2: Verify the new altitude
Step 3: Choose a vertical mode to use in the climb/descent
Step 4: Adjust thrust accordingly (TLs in detents for climbs)

19
Q

For FLC, what are the preset speeds in a climb?

A

Below 10000’: 240 KIAS
10000-12000: 240-270 KIAS
Above 12000’: 270 KIAS
(XR: 240, 290 @ 14,000, .60 M)

20
Q

For FLC, what are the preset vertical speeds in a descent?

A

FL 370–12000’: -2000 fpm
12000’-10000’: -2000 to -1000 fpm
Below 10000’: -1000’ fpm
