How and when do you place flank marching cards?
- After out-scouting, place one or more generals on table with cards underneath them: left flank, right flank, and/or bluff (any card other than ambush).
- Place a sticky note with the card indicating the UGs with the flank march.
(p. 179, A3.2&3)
What restrictions are there for cards for a flank marching general that has not yet arrived?
- Their cards are dealt face up.
- They may not be gifted cards.
- They may only discard in the card phase.
- If hesitant, the first red card is spent to become committed.
(p. 179, A4.2 & 3; p. 95, E6)
When is a flank marching card revealed.
- When the flank marching general is dealt their first red card.
- (Second if a hesitant ally general - the first is used to become committed.)
(p. 179, A4.4)
How many red cards are required for a flank march to arrive?
- 1 if only contains skirmishers (including flexible mounted arriving as skirmishers), but
- 2 if it contains any Cv, Cm, or Ch TuGs, or
- 3 if it contains any infantry TuGs.
(p. 179, A4.5)
How many red cards does it take for flexible mounted to arrive with a flank march?
The flexibles can decide at the time:
- If one red card is used, they must arrive in skirmish form,
- If two or three red cards are used, they can arrive in either skirmish and/or loose form.
(p. 179, A4.5.1 & 2)
During what phase does a flank march arrive?
The movement phase.
(p. 180, A4.6)
How are cards played, and what are the restrictions for an arriving flank march?
- Cards are played as normally - you do not have to play any of the red cards you may have accumulated.
- All UGs must arrive on the same turn during the movement phase. Any not arriving are lost - they do not count either as broken or for army size.
- They may arrive anywhere on the flank.
- They may not go within 6BW or enemy units that arrived via flank march previously this turn.
- The general must arrive with the first UG.
- Later UGs are considered in command based on their proximity to the general.
- Note that they may perform double moves.
(p. 180, A4.7, A5, & A6)
What happens when two flank marches arrive on the same flank on the same turn?
UGs may not go within 6 BW of enemy UGs that have arrived as a flank march this turn.

- Such that the ambush would not be visible from anywhere in the opponent’s half of the table.
(p. 181, B.5)
How and when do you place ambush cards?
- Ambush cards are placed at the same time as flank marching cards.
- Place a sticky note indicating a single UG (or that it is a bluff)
- The sticky note may also indicate a single general.
(p. 181, B.6)
Do you indicate that a general is in ambush before the ambush is revealed?
Indirectly. Generals in ambush are placed on the rear of the table at the end of deployment and have one or more ambush cards allocated to them.
(p. 181, B.7)
Are ambush cards allocated to generals and, if so, when?
Ambush cards are allocated to generals at the same time as other UGs are assigned.
(p. 181, B.7)

- As many bases as possible are placed on the card.
- Additional bases are placed next to those placed and no closer to the enemy than those placed on the card.
- Any bases that can’t be so placed are lost.
(p. 181, B.9)
What’s the special movement rule for ambushes?
