What are they?

A

composite fillings or glass ionomer cement which are used to seal naturally occurring stagnation areas of pits + fissures, therefore preventing damage from acid attacks + avoiding onset dental caries.

A

should make an occlusal surface safe from caries like topical fluoridation, it can be carried out by hygienists + therapists as well as dentists + is of major importance in preventative dentistry as it can produce reduction in most common disease of children

Enamel fluorosis

A

excessive fluoride is ingested during enamel formation. The teeth erupt with mottled white areas in enamel surface which vary in severity but can be quite unsightly. restoration techniques like veneers are available to mask area but condition is prevented by ensuring parents receive correct advice regarding fluoride

Enamel fluorosis

A

children below 8 years toothbrushing supervised by adult to prevent ingestion of toothpaste
amount of toothpaste kept to minimum just twice daily
parents must ensure they spit toothpaste out
fluoride supplements prescribed as necessary, + correct dosage dependent on local water
