Female Reproductive System Flashcards
Name the 2 types of Vulvar Glands
Paraurethral (Skene’s) Glands and Vestibular
(Bartholin’s) Glands
Name the 3 layers of the Uterus
Endometrium. Myometrium. Perimetrium
Name the 3 types of fibres that make up the Myometrium

The Internal Iliac Artery supplies which parts of the female reproductive system?
Vaginal Arteries to Vagina. Uterine arteries to Uterus.
What is special about the Ovarian Arteries?
They have a blood supply direct from aorta as well as a supply from the Uterine arteries.
Name the 4 main ligaments involved in supporting the Uterus
Transverse Ligaments. Uterosacral Ligaments.
Pubocervical Ligaments. Broad Ligament.
Describe Transverse Ligaments
Fan out from sides of cervix to side walls of pelvis
Describe Uterosacral Ligaments
Pass backwards from cervix to the sacrum
Describe Pubocervical Ligaments
Pass forwards from the cervix, under the bladder, to the pubic bones
Describe the Broad Ligament
Like a blanket, draped over uterine tubes and spread
from sides of uterus to side walls of pelvis.
What is the ‘normal’ position of the
uterus?
Anteflexed and anteverted.
Which muscle surrounds vulval and vaginal area?
Bulbocavernosus Muscle
Which muscle extends down from clitoral area, joining with superficial transverse muscle?
Ischiocavernosus Muscle
What is the muscle around the anus called?
Anal sphincter
What does the round ligament support?
Ovaries. Uterus. Cervix
