What are the ovaries ?
Where eggs(ova) are produced, and produce female hormones.
Describe the uterine tubes
Also called oviducts or Fallopian tubes, lined with cilia to brush egg towards uterus.
What is the uterus?
Hollow pear shaped, located behind the bladder. Lining called endometrium, has good blood supply. Lining sheds each month during menstruation.
What is the cervix?
Thin passageway for sperm to get to uterus. It stops the baby falling out(seals off uterus from external environment).
Describe the vagina
Hollow muscular tube, 10cm long, very stretchy. Receives the penis of male during intercourse. Forms birth canal during childbirth.
What is the Labia majora?
Glands produce oily secretions. Pubic hair in outer surface. Fleshy folds of skin, fat and fibrous tissue
What is the Labia minora?
Smaller folds of skin beneath labia majora. Surrounds vaginal and urethral opening. Upper end surrounds clitoris
What is the clitoris?
Contains erectile tissue, blood vessels and nerves. Very sensitive(stimulation provides sexual pleasure)
