A

Should always do chemistry panel with monitoring
* elevated BP increases blood flow to kidneys (appear normal)
* once thyroid is maintained, kidney levels will be elevated

  • Drugs: methimazole
  • Diet: y/d (lower iodine levels to reduce hormones)

  • Surgery: thyroidectomy, but keep parathyroid for calcium production
  • Radioactive Iodine-131: kills damaged cells (need to make sure kidneys are normal)
