feedback from an external source such as a coach. can be very beneficial to a performer technically or tactically

also can rely on too much so may not be able to develop intrinsic feedback

the interpretation could be inaccurate and lead to poor performance or incorrect technique.
what’s positive feedback?
can be intrinsic or extrinsic
highlights what went well in the performance and offers some sort of reward like praise for the performer
it can be very motivating and helps build confidence
disadvantages of positive feedback
if overused, it may lose its effects on the performer. also may be undeserved
what’s negative feedback?
often criticism that tends to focus on what wasn’t successful in the performance
can be both intrinsic and extrinsic
disadvantages of negative feedback
can be demotivating causing a performer to give up.

feedback given about the technique and movements. can be used to improve performance

some performers only focus on the result

this is external and terminal feedback about the end result of a movement that the performer has carried out
essential to enable more learning to take place

can be demotivating if the performer just focuses on the result
