Q

Why were the Gestapo sucessful in removing Nazi opposition?

A

They set up a network of “informers” who would report anyone who criticised the Nazis.
This included children who were encouraged to report their own parents or teachers.

They wore no uniform which meant that they were unidentifiable in public situations.

They tapped into phone calls and opened mail.

They had the power to arrest and imprison anyone without trial.

Could torture anyone without consequence as ordinary police were ordered to ignore it.
