Good for: Vision, epithelial (outer lining of organs, blood vessels and skin).
Gene expression, immune function, growth.
Food sources: egg yolk, liver, orange and muddle green vegetables.
What is vitamin D good for and what foods contain it?
Primary roles: Calcium absorption, regulation of parathyroid hormone (hormone that controls calcium levels), immune function, and gene expression.
Food sources: Fatty fish, egg yolk and dairy.
What is vitamin E good for and what foods contain it?
Primary roles: antioxidant activity (preservation of cell structure)
Prevention of oxidative damage to DNA.
Food sources: nuts, seeds and oils. Wheat germ, canola oil, sunflower seeds.
What is vitamin k good for and what food sources contain them?
Primary roles: Blood clotting, bone health and bone resorption.
Food sources: dark, leafy greens, broccoli, Brussels sprouts
