What does functionalism argue ?
Parsons says that there is a functional fit between the nuclear family and modern society and that it is uniquely suited to fit the needs of modernity
What do the new right argue ?
Like functionalists they agree there is only one traditionally correct family type that is based on fundamental biological principles

She argues that the roles of men and women in the family are not biologically fixed
