What are water-soluble ocular medications used for
Penetrate the corneal stroma layer
What are mydriatic agents used for
To dilate the peoples. For examination of the posterior segment and fundus of the eye
What is atropine used for
To cause mydriasis and cycloplegia
What is Cyclopegia
Ciliary muscle relaxation which decreases pain when this muscle is in spasm
What does homatropin, tropicamide, mydriacyl and phenylephrine have in common.
They all dilate the eye but none of them produces cyclopegia as well as atropine.
Why are miotics used with glaucoma
Reduce intraocular pressure by increasing the outflow of aqueus humor.
What is pilocarpine used for
Used to treat the chronic open angle glaucoma by stimulating tear production and reducing intraocular pressure.
How do carbonic anhydrase inhibitors work
Reduce intraocular pressure by decreasing production of aqueous humor.
What are eye topical anesthetics used for
To facility removal of foreign body, to allow the use of instruments to measure intraocular pressure, to aid in the application of a hydrophilic contact lens
What is proparacaine hydrochloride used for
It is a topical Eye anesthetic
What are fluorescein drops used for
Most common used dye for the detection of corneal epithelial defect
How do you know if it is a patent lacrimal duct
Appearance of fluorescein stain at the nostrils
What are collagen shields used for
Used in treatment of superficial corneal ulcers. Last 12-72hr
In what case would you use acyclovir
In a cat with herpes.
What does lysine do
