What is experiential tourism?
a way of doing business that makes a product into an experience. designed to engage tourists in memorable activities, involves all the senses, makes connections on physical, spiritual, emotional, social, and intellectual lvls. involves active participation and immersion (hands-on approach).
What is the goal of experiential tourism?
transformation of guests in personal ways, allowing them the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual engagement.

what are the different experiences?
lvl of commitment - taste or immerse. participation initiative - passive or initiative
What is the experience economy theory and the progression of economic value?
starts at agrarian economy, extract commodities (price of goods is lower), industrial economy, make goods (goods are manufactured and the price goes up), service economy, deliver service (goods are sold), experience economy, stage experiences (highest price). So hierarchy lvl is; commodities, goods, services, experiences.
How is experiential tourism scalable?
small businesses, regional, provincial. always done in small groups so no mass tourism.
What are the economic implications of ET?
higher price point per visitor. generate revenue to support chefs, artists, historians, etc who were partnered. economic reconciliation to support indigenous entrepreneurs. revenue diversification for businesses.
What are the social implications of ET?
preservation of cultural heritage, emphasis on local stories and skills, increase in community pride, ability for education.
What are the environmental implications of ET?
smaller groups, regenerative tourism practices, support and invest in local infrastructure, so using parts of community
