How do ethics play a role in tourism?
things like crime where tourists are more subject to it but can also be the aggressors. on cruise ships its on international waters so theres no arrests or anything that can be made and crimes largely go unpunished. with sex tourism, man are going to places like thailand that have red light districts and prostitution.
What is sex tourism?
travel for commercial sex. things like prostitution etc. but at same time many women are relying on this to feed families etc. men are going to be able to experience things they wouldnt normally be able to. there are light and dark elements as a whole.
What is sex in tourism?
non-commercial sex travel, so can involve things like romantic getaways etc. so romantic tourism destinations.
What is the Universal declaration of human rights?
adopted by unites nations in 1948. common standard for all ppl and nations. says what is considered a human right. should leisure, travel, or holiday be included as well?
What is a TDA?
tourism destination area that needs to have things like nature, infrastrusture, suprastructure, transport systems, and welcoming pop to attract tourists.
Natural resources as part of a TDA?
need to have the space and land. clean water, the aesthetic, climate.
Infrastructure as part of TDA?
the basic things an area should have such as sewage ,electricity, water supply, roads, cell towers/service.
Suprastructure as part of TDA?
a complex with things like restaurants, lodgings, sports complexes, stores, terminals.
Transportation systems as part of TDA?
vehicles that use the transportation infrastructure of a destination. cars trains boats, ebikes and scooters. provides access to and within destination.
Hospitality of the host as part of TDA?
the friendliness and helpfulness of a population, how tolerant they are of tourists. and how welcomed you feel. can be affected by social and political climate
What are the stages in the destination life cycle?
conception (start up, focused on marketing which cost is high for), growth (rapid growth and spread, building stage, popular and demand is high, ideally sustained as long as possible, high percentage of failure), maturity(saturation, well-established, trying to be competitive, want customers to prefer your product), decline (demand drops, cna be opportunity for renewal where change state of product or do smthn new).
What is national lvl tourism planning?
borders to ensure flow of tourists. transportation policies. emerging opportunities, new ones, or updated existing. ensuring labour supply demands. improve access to gov info with research and data. coordinate with target markets.
What is community tourism planning?
frameworks for improving residence quality of life and standard of living bc of benefits from tourism. developing appropriate guidelines for development in community. evaluating the plan annually. can include branding a town to add to tourism.
What are the 8 steps in the tourism planning process?
- inventory 2. trend forecasting 3. mission and vision devel 4. examining alternatives 5. selecting plan of action 6. developing plan of action 7. executing plan 8. reviewing effectiveness.
What is the inventory step?
going into the community and seeing its state, what infrastructure do they have, physical enviro, social and political atmosphere. economic enviro.
