What is masking used for?

How does masking work?
Both ears are masked and speaker speaks louder, asked to red aloud
Used on patients who have poor breathing and helps with respiratory system

How do you do respiration training?
Sudden inhalation prolonged exhalation, prolonging vowels, sigh
What is high protrusion E used for?
Ventricular phonation, tightness in voice
How does high protrusion E work?
Have patient open and stick their tongue out and say a high pitch “ee”, have them say “ee” in various pitches
What is redirective phonation is used for?
Functional aphonia, functional dysphonia
How does redirective phonation work?
Throat clearing, humming, singing, trilling, coughing
Finding voice through other means besides voicing

What is relaxation phonation used for?
Hyperfunctional voices, shortness of breath
How does relaxation phonation work?
Having person to concentrate at a certain body part and reducing tension of it, visualize calm place, biofeedback devices (heart rate), head rotation, open throat relaxation
