Exam 1 Flashcards
What is included in the clinical process?
Evaluation, recommendation, establish plan, implement intervention, collect/analyze data, monitor/report progress
May screen first, case history, may make a referral, file review, interviews, standardized and non-standardized assessments
Evaluate
Is the intervention recommended? What should we work on?
Recommendations
Setting measurable goals, plan of care or IEP
Establish plan
Evidence based strategies to target goals, collaboration with other professionals, parents, family members
Implement intervention
Data should inform intervention, looking at what your data is showing
Collect and analyze data
Data should measure ____ toward goals and be ____
Progress, consistent
Part of the clinical progress where we make comments about if the intervention is working, should strategies be changed, should intervention continue, should goals be updated
Report progress
True or false: The clinical process is the same for every age, setting, and disorder
True
Compare and contrast the clinical process for a child with an articulation impairment and an adult with a voice impairment
The goals may be different, collaborators, activities, will be different, but the clinical process will be the same.
What makes a good assessment?
Thorough, valid, reliable, tailored to individual client, use a variety of assessment modalities
What are the 7 steps of an assessment process?
Obtain historical information, interview, oral facial evaluation, observe, sample, evaluate, screen hearing, evaluate assessment to make diagnosis/recommendations, share clinical findings through consultation
Allow a comparison of an individual’s performance to the performance of a larger group (normative group)
Norm-referenced test
What are norm-referenced tests commonly used for what disorders?
Articulation and language
What are the benefits of a norm-referenced test?
Objective, clearly specified administration, can be compared to a large normative group, administration is efficient, widely recognized, doesn’t require a high level of clinical experience
