EUKARYOTIC CELL Flashcards
Have nucleus, separated from the cytoplasm of the
nuclear envelope (contains various membrane-
organelles such as cytoskeleton and ribosomes)
o Fungi and plants’ cells have cell walls and they
undergo differentiation and specialization
o Composed from tissues which are organized to organs
and to organ systems
Eukaryotic cells
o Single-similar DNA, which is not separated from the
cytoplasm by membrane
o Do not have any membrane-organelles
o Small ribosomes are present on the cytoplasm and
have cell wall on the surface
o They frequently reproduce asexually, or by apoptosis,
or binary fission which occurs immediately after DNA
Replication
Prokaryotic cells
– Plants, animals. Fungi, and Plants
Eukarya
– Familiar, single-celled microorganisms,
some of which are useful to humans and some of
which cause human disease
Bacteria
Single-celled microorganisms found in all
types of environments but first discovered n extreme
environments, such as hot springs
Archaea –
are the building blocks of all living things
Cells
such as those of plants and animals, are
structurally complex
Eukaryotic cells,
such as those bacteria, have simpler
organization
