Definition of ethics?
Rules that dictate an individuals conduct forming a system of rules that groups and societies are judged on
What is Deviance?
A word that describes unacceptable behaviour within a culture
What is blood doping?
It is a process that increases red blood cell count, removing 2 pints of blood and then putting it back in several weeks later, your body would of compensated for the loss of blood so would of made more red blood cells allowing you to train for longer
Name 3 possible side effects of blood doping?
- Increased blood viscosity
- increased risk of heart attack
- infections and risk of disease e.g. HIV
What are anabolic steroids?
These enable sports people to train harder and longer, often increasing strength and aggression
What are beta blockers?
These help an athlete control their heart rate, keeping them calm
What are stimulants?
They are brain stimulants which increase alertness e.g. Amphetamines
What are ergogenic aids?
External influences that are intended to improve athletic performance
Name some consequences of drugs and doping in sport?
- struggle to gain sponsorship
- loss of public support
- bans
- fines

Definition of violence?
Intense physical force that is directed towards harming another individual or groups of individuals causing injury or death
Name some causes of violence in sport?
- to win at all costs
- patriotism
- frustrated by events e.g. Decision by a ref
- physical sports require assertion
- rivalries
What are the strategies to provent violence?
- education programmes
- punishments e.g. Fines, bans

Definition of match fixing?
When a sports competition is played to a pre determined result
Definition of Spot fixing
when a specific aspect of a sports competition is illegally pre determined e.g. A no ball in the 6th over
3 reasons why elite performers take illegal drugs
Under a lot of pressure to succeed by coaches and family and the pressure can affect their judgement and decisions
Monetary rewards are so high they can motivate performers to cheat
