A

Progressive neurological condition that is common and misdiagnosed as PD

Intention tremor - intensifies during voluntary mv
Postural tremor - present with sustained muscle tone

Typically in over 40s

Presentation

A

Symmetrical tremor in upper limbs
-worse on voluntary mv, stress
-better with alcohol, rest
Postural tremor worse when arms outstretched

Tremulous voice
Head tremor

How does this differ from a Parkinsonian tremor

A

Resting tremor - starts unilateral => bilateral
-no change with alcohol
-worse with stress and fatigue
Bradykinesia, cogwheel rigidity, gait disturbance
No head tremor
Low volume voice
