ESET Flashcards
What’s the maximum off-shore distance that you can fly without life jackets?
50 NM
What’s the max weight for infant life jackets?
15 kg
Where are the crew life jackets located?
Under the crew seats.
Who can be seated in front of the emergency overwing exit?
Any able bodied person.
When will pax O2 become available?
- Once the pax O2 lever is opened AND
- Once the cabin altitude reaches 13.500ft +/- 500ft
- When the pax O2 switch is selected ON
On which frequencies does the ELT transmit once it is activated?
121.5 MHz and 406 MHz
How long does the PBE (Smoke Hood) protect you from smoke?
15 min
How many emergency exits is the PC12 equipped with?
3
Where can we find the fire protection gloves?
In the cabin next to seat 6 or 8
How many flashlights can we find aboard the PC12?
2
Where is the ELT located?
In the rear part of the aircraft
How long does the ELT transmit on 121.5 MHz ?
Until its battery dies, for at least 100 hours
What type are the fire extinguishers aboard the PC12?
Dry Powder (Halon) Type
What is the main specificity of the infant vests?
Contrary to standard life vests, they should be inflated inside the aircraft before getting out of it.
How would the ELT trigger when in the “Armed” position?
It would trigger via a G-switch.
When a certain G-force is applied to the airplane (hence to the ELT), it will start emitting.
The force required to trigger the inertial activation is equal to 5Gs (+2, -0) along the longitudinal axis of the plane.

How do you test your ELT?
By pressing the Test/reset switch.
It it works normally, the LED will emit a long red flash.
If it doesn’t work properly, the LED will emit a series of short red flashes.
What will happen once the ELT is activated?
- It will emit a digital message every 50 seconds for 24 hours on 406 MHz (military)
- It will emit a continuous radio transmission for at least 100 hours or until the battery dies on 121.5 MHz during the 50 seconds between each digital message.
What type of fire extinguisher is fitted on the PC12?
Halon extinguisher
On which types of fire can you use a halon extinguisher?
All types (A, B, C, D and E) except F (Deep fat fryers).
What are the different categories of fire?
A = Combustible materials (paper, wood, etc…)
B = Flammable liquids (fuel, oil, etc…)
C = Flammable gases (butane, methane, etc…)
D = Flammable metals (lithium, potassium)
E = Electrical
F = Fat
How long will a PBE provide O2 for?
At least 15 min
When do you need to have life jackets on borad?
When flying over water further than 50 NM from shore.
When should the occupants of the plane inflate their life jackets in case of ditching?
Adults should inflate their life jackets outside the plane.
Infants (15 kg or less) should inflate their life jackets INSIDE the plane.
In AUTO mode, when will the cabin O2 masks deploy?
When cabin altitude reaches 13500 ft +/- 500 ft.
