  • target lesions
  • back of hands/feet, then spreads to torso
  • upper limbs more than lower limbs
  • occasional itch
  • major form -> mucosal involvement

Causes of erythema multiforme

A
  1. herpes simplex virus (or other viruses)
  2. idiopathic
  3. bacteria (mycosplasma, streptococcus)
  4. drugs (penicillin, sulphonamides, NSAIDs, allopurinol)
  5. connective tissue disease (SLE)
  6. sarcoidosis
