Epinephrine 1-10000 Flashcards
Epinephrin 1:10000:class
sympathomimetic
Epinephrin 1:10000:route
IV push
Epinephrin 1:10000:adult dose
cardiac arrest - 1 mg IV push;anaphylaxis - 0.1 mg - 0.2 mg slow IV push, 0.1 mg/min;profound symptomatic bradycardia -2-10 mcg/min IVPB continuous infusion, titrated to effect; mix 1 mg in 250 ml or 500 ml of NS or D5W
Epinephrin 1:10000:pedi dose
cardiac arrest - 0.01 mg/kg rapid IV push;anaphylaxis - 0.01 mg/kg slow IV push, 0.1 mg/min, max of 0.3 mg per dose;profound symptomatic bradycardia -0.01 mg/kg slow IV push, 0.1 mg/min, max of 0.3 mg per dose
Epinephrin 1:10000:drug actions
alpha:-peripheral vasoconstriction-increases blood pressure in anaphylaxis-decreases vessel permeability-increases coronary and cerebral perfusionbeta 1:-increases heart rate-increases contraction strengthbeta 2:-bronchodilation
Epinephrin 1:10000:indications
cardiac arrest;anaphylaxis that is refractory to Epinephrine 1:1000 and fluid boluses;pedi:profound symptomatic bradycardia refractory to other treatments
Epinephrin 1:10000:precautions
CPR:noneanaphylaxis:use cautiously in patients with COPD, CHF, history of AMI or heart disease;over 45;HTN;arrhythmias;laborother:moniter ECG closely;patients on beta blockers may need higher doses of epinephrine and/or Glucagon;don’t mix with Sodium Bicarbonate - flush between drugs
Epinephrin 1:10000:side effects
CPR:noneanaphylaxis:-increases in myocardial oxygen demand leading to tachycardia, chest pain, arrythmiasheadache/flushing;nausea/vomiting;restlessness;tremors
Epinephrin 1:10000:contraindications
NONE - if they need it, give it to them!
