what does incarnation mean?
In a flesh and blood form, meaning that God enters the human realm in the form of Jesus
What confirms Jesus’ divine nature?
His miraculous virgin birth
What was Jesus?
-Truly God and truly human at the same time,
-part of the trinity-God the son,
-the ‘word’-how God communicates his nature and his will to the world, if you have seen Jesus you have see God,
Why did God send Jesus to the world?
Because he had sent prophets but the people didnt listen, so he sent his son
What does the incarnation mean for God?
That he has experienced everything about being a human, apart from sin
Why did Jesus(God on earth) die?
Because only he could deal with the consequences of sin by dying on the cross, and then beating death
When does Jesus show that he is an Incarnation of God?
-The calming of the storm
-the healing of Jairus’ daughter
-his baptism
-Jesus forgives and heals a paralysed man
-Jesus heals a demon-possessed boy
What does Matthew’s infancy narrative teach us about Jesus being an incarnation of God?
It teaches us that Jesus is shown to be God the son by fulfilling the prophecies of the messiah and by being given the title Emmanuel; ‘God is with us’. The Magi show that Jesus is the son because of the gifts they bring him.
What does Luke’s infancy narrative teach us about Jesus being an incarnation of God?
It teaches us that Jesus is shown to be God the son through the annunciation by Gabriel and the angel’s message to the shepherds
Why is the incarnation important for Christian’s?
Because:
-It helps us to understand that Jesus wasn’t just a human being but is actually God the Son. This helps us to understand the nature of God better. By knowing Jesus, we know God,
-The incarnation helps us to see Jesus as the perfect example of a human being. If we following Jesus’ words and actions, then we can be the best people we can possibly be,
-The incarnation gives us hope because God loves humanity so much that he is willing to become one of us to show the depth of that love,
-The incarnation is important because it shows us the way to overcome sin. Jesus lives a perfect life. This gives us hope that sin and death aren’t the end and that we too can share in eternal life through God,
How might beliefs about the incarnation affect Christian’s?
-they would worship Jesus as God, asking for his help and guidance in their lives,
-some Christian’s use images of Jesus as a focus for prayer and devotion,
-in communion, they would remember how Jesus died for their sins,
-they would look to Jesus’ words and actions as the best source of guidance for living as they have tremendous authority,
