Q

How long? to acclimatise

A
  • first sessions should be around 15-20 mins with low to moderate intensity
  • this should increase to 45-60 mins per day while increasing the intensity for approx. 8-9 days
  • 5-10 days of living and training in hot environments

Q

Where? to acclimatise

A
  • in hotter countries
if cannot/not able to reach the country athlete uses artificial heat sources
  • Saunas
  • Sweat Clothing
  • Climate Chambers

Q

When? to acclimatise

A
  • Should be done 4-6 weeks prior to the comp
  • at least should be done 2x per week leading up to the comp to maintain benefits

Q

Explain all the 4 Major adaptations to heat acclimatisation in Sweating

A
  • Increased blood plasma volume
  • increased sweat rate
  • start sweating at a lower core temp
  • sweat becomes more dilute and is more efficiently transported around the body

Q

Explain all the Major adaptations to heat acclimatisation in Cardiovascular all 4

A
  • athletes exercise with a lower core temp and skin temp due to sweating adaptations
  • athlete HR is lower
  • reduces the body need to send blood to the skin so that more can be sent to the working active muscles.
  • increased in blood volume for increased sweating
