Why doesn’t the dsRNA virus (rotavirus) induce a strong IFN response, like with the flu virus?

Q

What does the rotavirus do to avoid IFN response?

A

It does transcription within itself, and then squirts out the ssRNA to the cytoplasm. During assembly is when the dsRNA forms. So it stays hidden a lot of the time so that the immune system doesn’t detect it quickly.
