Manoeuvre

  • Engage hand steering
  • Usually, Williamson - hard over to one side, once vessel reaches 60° off original course, then hard over the other side until 20° off reciprocal course, wheel amidships and steady her on the reciprocal course

Communications
- Mayday - dependant on what sea area

  • Post extra lookouts

Rescue

  • Muster rescue boat team
  • Thinking of wind and drift, giving MOB a lee
  • Mustering medical team
  • Rigging pilot ladder and nets

Emergency Situation Structure

A
  • Safety of people / signals (raise the alarm and distress signals, lights and shapes)
  • Prelinminary Action (calling Master and first actions depending on emergency)
  • Assess (the situation)
  • Resources (docs and pubs, teams, Fire brigade tugs salvage radio medical advise)
  • Reporting (Record keeping)
  • Checklist (incase you forget anything)

For a management answer talk about the teams you have and what they will be doing NOT I will do this… etc

PEP is most important do not give answers that could negatively effect any of these if the examiner continues to push you for answers
