A

Set out disciplinary rules and procedures which apply when you are employed to work on board ship

Conduct in emergencies?

A
  • When safety of PEP is at stake. Master / officers are entitled to immediate and unquestioning obedience of orders
  • Failure to do so is a serioius breach of discipline

Explain the shipboard disciplinary procedures?

A

Initial meeting
- Chance for crew member to explain
- Should meet with crew indivdually
- Should have two officers there (one to ask questions and one to write)

  • If breach of conduct is not serious then an informal warning may only be required here. If further action is requried then disciplinary hearing will be held.

Disciplinary hearing
- Seafarer given written notice of hearing
- Friend or Union may be present
- Final comments
- Warning / dismissal given
