What is the Alternative Compliance Scheme (ACS)?
A
- MGN 568
- UK Scheme, that streamlines the survey and certification process.
- Allows Class to carry out surveys on behalf of class

What certs can not be delegated to class under ACS shceme?
A
- ISM DOC, SMC, ISSC, MLC, IOPP (initial survey only), PSSC, SMD, CSR, High speed craft code
- Class cannot authorise any exemptions

A
- All UK ships other then pax

What are the eligibility criteria for the ACS scheme?
A
- No detentions in the last 36 months
- No more then 5 deficiencies in a PSC
- Classed by a recognised company
- Permit access of records to MCA
- Give 1 months notice to MCA for in water surveys and dry docks

What is the Enhanced Authorisation Scheme (EAS)?
A
- MGN 561
- IMO scheme, EAS super seeds ACS, delegates more survey work to class (ISSC, ILO, MLC).
- Only ISM DOC and SMD is done by MCA
- Incorporates a risk profile for each vessel. If vessel is deemed too risky then it will be removed from EAS

What is Harmonised System of Survey and Certification (HSSC) Scheme?
A
- IMO unverisal standard for surveys and certification
- Aimed to standardise the period of validity and the intervals between surveys.
- To reduce number of required surveyours, survey time and paperwork and ultimately costs.

A
- IMO scheme developed to monitor the steel condition of tankers and bulk carriers
