Embalming Injection Points Flashcards
An imaginary line on the surface of the skin to represent approximate location of a deeper lying structure
Linear Guide
A method of locating a structure by reference to an adjacent known or prominent structure
Anatomical Guide
A point of origin and a point of termination in relation to adjacent structures
Anatomical Limit
What is the linear guide in the common carotid artery?
Point from the sternoclavicular articulation to the anterior surface of the lobe of the ear
What is the anatomical guide in the common carotid artery?
Along the medial inner border of the sternocleidomastoid muscle
What is the anatomical limits for the right common carotid artery?
Begins at the level of the sternoclavicular articulation and extends to the level of the upper border of the thyroid cartilage
What is the anatomical limits for the left common carotid artery?
Begins at the level of the second costal cartilage and extends to the level of the upper border of the thyroid cartilage
Where is the supraclavicular place of incision for the common carotid artery?
Along the upper border of the medial 1/3 of the clavicle
Where is the parallel place of incision for the common carotid artery?
Along the posterior border of the lower 1/3 of the sternocleidomastoid muscle
Where is the half moon (apron incision) place of incision for the common carotid artery?
From the center of one clavicle by dipping curve to the center of the other clavicle
What’s the accompanying vein to the common carotid artery?
Internal jugular vein, lateral and superficial to the common carotid artery
What is the anatomical limit for the right subclavian artery?
Begins at the sternoclavicular articulation and extends to the outer border of the first rib, right
What is the anatomical limit for the left subclavian artery
Begins at the level of the second costal cartilage and extends to the outer border of the first rib, left
What is the linear guide for the axillary artery?
Through the center of the base of the axillary space and parallel to the long axis of the upper extremity when abducted
What is the anatomical guide for the axillary artery?
Just behind the medial border of the coracobrachialis muscle
What is the anatomical limits for the axillary artery?
Begins at the lateral border of the 1st rib and extends to the lower border of the tendon of the teres major muscle
