Electrical and Fire Protection Flashcards
AC BUS 1 has just failed. Will the AC ESS BUS
remain powered?
▪ Which bus supplies the AC ESS BUS in this
condition?
YES
AC BUS 2 will power the AC ESS BUS
What does the AC ESS FEED FAULT light
represent?
AC ESS BUS “FEED FAULT” light
means AC ESS BUS is not being
powered
What does a FAULT light in an IDG pb represent?
H-O-T-L-O-P
High Oil Temperature
Or
Low Oil Pressure
Refer to panel below: The aircraft is parked at
the gate following a single engine taxi. What
electrical source is supplying AC BUS 1 and AC
BUS 2?
ANSWER: AC BUS 1= GEN 1; AC BUS 2 = EXT
PWR
GEN 1 (Red Circle) Has No Faults indicating respective
IDG operational (Eng #1 running) & powering AC BUS 1.
GEN 2 (Yellow Circle) Fault light lit, Generator is deenergized
due engine 2 not running.
EXT PWR (Blue Circle) Cyan light ON, powers AC BUS 2
per electrical priority.
What automatically occurs if you have an APU
fire while on the ground?
Automatic Shutdown and Automatic Extinguisher activation
(on ground only)
For an Engine Fire system test, what indications
are we looking for in the cockpit?
(Hint: F-E-E-D S-A-M)
F-E-E-D S-A-M
- FIRE light on ENG panel (pedestal) illuminates RED
- ENG FIRE1 (2) warning appears on ECAM
- ENG FIRE pb illuminated RED
- DISCH lights illuminate AMBER.
- SQUIB Lights illuminate white
- A continuous repetitive chime sounds.
- MASTER WARN lights flash
What does the amber DISCH 1 light represent?
Bottle 1 has low pressure
What occurs when the RACK POWER is selected OFF?
Power is removed from the AFT avionics rack
If AC BUS 1 fails, will the AC ESS BUS
remain powered?
(151)
Yes
If AC BUS 1 fails, which bus supplies
the AC ESS BUS?
(153)
AC BUS 2
What is indicated by a FAULT light in the
GEN pb?
(155)
The associated generator control unit (GCU) trips, or
The line contactor opens (except if GEN pushbutton is selected OFF)
157
What does a BAT OFF
light represent?
- Battery charger limiter is not operating
- OFF light illuminates if the DC BATT BUS is powered
- Hot buses remain powered
What does the green EXT PWR AVAIL
light indicate?
(159)
External power is connected to the airplane and is good.
(Extinguishes if ON is illuminated or if the external power is disconnected.)
What does the blue EXT PWR ON light indicate?
(161)
External power is connected (supplying power) to the electric system
What does the battery charger limiter automatically control?
(163)
(When the BAT 1&2 are selected on)
Connection and the disconnection of the corresponding battery to the DC BAT BUS (by closing and opening of the battery line contactor).
What does a BAT FAULT light represent?
(165)
Comes on amber, accompanied by an ECAM caution, when the charging current for the corresponding battery is outside limits. In this case the battery contactor opens
What does the AC ESS FEED FAULT light represent?
(167)
AC ESS BUS is not powered
