Automatic Flight and Comms Flashcards
▪ What are the three methods available to
disconnect the Autothrust?
▪ Which of these will cause a “Thrust Lock”
condition?
- Press either A/T instinctive
disconnect push button - Push A/T pb on FCU
- Move BOTH thrust levers to Idle
*Pushing the A/T pb on the FCU will cause “Thrust Lock” *
What action is required to restore conventional
manual thrust control from a “Thrust Lock”
condition?
Move the thrust levers
(Out of CL or MCT)
On takeoff, what speed does SRS command…
▪ Normally (all engines operating)?
Pitch Guidance to maintain V2+10
What does the lateral mode RWY represent?
Runway Mode Engaged.
Provides steering guidance during
take off roll and climb using
available localizer.
Based on the FMA, what is the status of the
Autothrust?
Armed
(Blue A/THR in right hand column)
During a normal takeoff, when will the A/THR
become engaged?
A/THR becomes active when thrust
levels are in the CLB detent.
What is the difference between the vertical modes
CLB and OP CLB?
CLB: Aircraft will climb to the
selected altitude but will respect all
altitude constraints. (VNAV)
OP CLB: Aircraft will climb to the
selected altitude but will not
respect any programmed altitude
constraints (unrestricted climb)
*BOTH MODES PROVIDE PITCH GUIDANCE TO MAINTAIN TARGET
AIRSPEED*
Describe
ALT CRZ?
ALT CRZ
When FCU selected altitude = CRZ
Altitude and there is a target Mach,
Soft altitude mode engages which
allows the aircraft to vary +/- 50 feet
from the cruise altitude to maintain
MACH. This minimizes thrust
variations, reduced fuel consumption
and increases customer comfort.
What is the difference between the vertical
modes DES and OP DES?
DES: Aircraft will descend to the
selected altitude but will respect all
altitude constraints. (VNAV)
OP DES: Aircraft will descend to the
selected altitude but will not
respect any programmed altitude
constraints (unrestricted descent)
*DES MODE HONORS VERTICAL TRACK ;OP DES HONORS
TARGET AIRSPEED*
Identify the Takeoff V
speeds presented on
the speed tape
What does the S
Speed represent
during a takeoff or
go-around?
During
Acceleration:
Slat retraction
speed.
OR
Lowest speed to
select Flaps to “0”
What does this Green Dot
represent?
The best lift over drag speed (L/D)
Also the Minimum Maneuvering
Speed in the CLEAN configuration
*Appears when aircraft is in a clean configuration*
Based on the speed tape as
shown, which symbol
represents the maximum
speed to extend flaps from
position 2 to 3?
The Amber “=“
represents Vfe next
or the maximum
speed to extend to
the next flap position
What does the F Speed
represent during deceleration
on approach?
F Speed is the minimum
maneuvering speed with the
Flaps in either Config 2 or 3
During Deceleration:
Green Dot= Min Maneuvering Speed Clean
S- Speed= Min Maneuvering Speed Flap Config 1
F- Speed= Min Maneuvering Speed Flap Config 2/3
With “managed speed” and Auto Thrust engaged, the
above speeds are the lowest speeds (Vls) the A/Thr will
slow the aircraft.
▪ What do each of these 3 speed
indications mean?
▪ Top of amber line
▪ Top of black and amber strip
▪ Top of solid red strip
▪ Based on this display, what
flight control law is the aircraft
in?
▪ What do each of these 2 speed
indications mean?
▪ Top of amber line
▪ Top of red and black strip
▪ Based on this display, what
flight control law is the aircraft
in?
