Q

What is the difference between the vertical modes
CLB and OP CLB?

A

CLB: Aircraft will climb to the
selected altitude but will respect all
altitude constraints. (VNAV)
OP CLB: Aircraft will climb to the
selected altitude but will not
respect any programmed altitude
constraints (unrestricted climb)
*BOTH MODES PROVIDE PITCH GUIDANCE TO MAINTAIN TARGET
AIRSPEED*

Q

Describe
ALT CRZ?

A

ALT CRZ
When FCU selected altitude = CRZ
Altitude and there is a target Mach,
Soft altitude mode engages which
allows the aircraft to vary +/- 50 feet
from the cruise altitude to maintain
MACH. This minimizes thrust
variations, reduced fuel consumption
and increases customer comfort.

selected altitude but will respect all
altitude constraints. (VNAV)
OP DES: Aircraft will descend to the
selected altitude but will not
respect any programmed altitude
constraints (unrestricted descent)

14
Q

What does the F Speed
represent during deceleration
on approach?

A

F Speed is the minimum
maneuvering speed with the
Flaps in either Config 2 or 3
During Deceleration:
Green Dot= Min Maneuvering Speed Clean
S- Speed= Min Maneuvering Speed Flap Config 1
F- Speed= Min Maneuvering Speed Flap Config 2/3

With “managed speed” and Auto Thrust engaged, the
above speeds are the lowest speeds (Vls) the A/Thr will
slow the aircraft.

17
Q

If an evacuation is initiated from the Cabin, what
indications would we have on the Flight Deck?

A

The signal will only be apparent in the Flight
Deck and the alert will only sound in the Flight
Deck for 3 seconds, the EVAC light flashes.

18
Q

If your ACP failed, how would you communicate?

A

On overhead panel (below Circuit Breakers)
Switch the “Audio Switching” Knob as follows:
CAPT ACP Failed: Audio Switching Knob to CAPT
3
FO ACP Failed: Audio Switching Know to FO 3
This allows for own acoustic equipment use via
Jumpseater ACP

19
Q

On takeoff, what speed does SRS command
with both engines operating?

(105)

A

SRS gives pitch guidance to maintain airspeed at V2 + 10

20
Q

On takeoff, what speed does SRS command
if an engine failure is detected?

(107)

A

SRS gives pitch guidance to maintain the greater of V2 or current speed, limited to V2+15

21
Q

When does the airplane exit SRS mode?

(109)

A

Automatically at the Acceleration Altitude or when another Vertical Mode is engaged

22
Q

With V/S active, what would happen if you select a higher speed?

(111)

A

Thrust will increase (up to CLB, if needed) until the selected speed is attained. Then the thrust will reduce to maintain selected speed

23
Q

Based on the PFD shown, what thrust is being commanded?

(113)

A

Thrust at idle since speed selected is below indicated in a descent

24
Q

During a normal takeoff, when will
the A/THR become engaged?

(115)

A

A/THR becomes engaged (white A/THR on FMA) after the Thrust Lever is moved to the CLB detent

25
Q

In a Managed Climb, what FMA changes
will occur if you pull HDG?

(117)

A

NAV mode will change to HDG; CLB mode will change to OP CLB

26
Q

118
In a Managed Descent, what FMA change(s)
will occur if you pull HDG?

(119)

A

NAV mode will change to HDG; DES mode will change to V/S, THR mode will change to SPEED

27
Q

During an ILS Approach, at approximately what altitude will the LOC/GS indication change to LAND on the FMA and what does it mean?

A

Below 400’ RA

LAND indicates that the LOC and GS Modes are locked. No action on the FCU will disengage the LAND Mode FLARE and ROLLOUT Modes will successively engage

28
Q

During an autoland, when do you expect the
FMA FLARE indication to appear?

(123)

A

40’ RA

29
Q

During an autoland, with the FMA FLARE indication
displayed, what actions are occurring within the
autopilot and autothrust?

A

Autopilot aligns yaw axis with runway centerline and flares in pitch

Autothrust reduces thrust to Idle if engaged

30
Q

During an autoland, what does ROLL OUT indicate?

(127)

A

The autopilot is guiding the aircraft along the runway centerline and the yaw bar is displayed on the PFD

31
Q

What are the three ways you can
disconnect the Autothrust?

(129)

A

To Disconnect:
1. Press either AUTOTHRUST INSTINCTIVE DISCONNECT pushbutton
2. Move both Thrust Levers to idle
3. Push A/THR pbon FCU

Option 3 will cause Thrust Lock

32
Q

In level flight with the thrust levers in the CL detent,
what will happen to the thrust if you press
the instinctive disconnect p/b?

(131)

A

Thrust will go to CL (matching actual current TL position)
Note: This is why we normally match the T/L position to current thrust before pressing the disconnect pb

33
Q

What does THR LK mean?

(133)

A

Means: Thrust is fixed at the current setting. (Could result from a fault OR pressing the FCU A/THR button.)

To fix: Move the Thrust Levers

34
Q

How would you get out of THR LK ?

(135)

A

Move the thrust levers

35
Q

What triggers ALPHA FLOOR protection to engage?

(137)

A

A.FLOOR is triggered by a predetermined AOA.

A.FLOOR means A/THR will command TOGA thrust regardless of T/L position.

36
Q

When the ALPHA FLOOR mode triggers,
what does A/THR command?

(139)

A

A/THR will command TOGA

37
Q

What does TOGA LK indicate?

(141)

A

TOGA LK means TOGA Thrust is still being commanded (Alpha floor triggering conditions are no longer met)

38
Q

How do you get out of TOGA LK ?

(143)

A

To disengage TOGA LK, the A/THR must be disconnected

39
Q

During a Go-Around, what FMA indications will confirm that the Aircraft has entered the GA phase?

(145)

A

MAN TOGA, SRS confirm the aircraft has entered the GA phase

40
Q

The aircraft is in Normal Law and Autothrust is selected OFF.
Is ALPHA FLOOR available?

A

YES

41
Q

When the aircraft leaves alpha floor
what FMA change will occur?

A

A.FLOOR will change to TOGA LK

42
Q
A
