A

In 1824, Jackson lost the election to John Quincy Adams in a vote that Jackson won the public vote, but not the electoral votes. Jackson lost because the House of Representatives would decide (Corrupt Bargain). After the election, Jackson gained popularity through a few things. First, he was a warhero from The War of 1812 in the Battle of New Orleans. Second, he opposed the National Bank, which was the same view as the common man. Jackson knew he won and that he was the one the people wanted in office, but Adams “stole” the presidency. Finally, he said that Adams was corrupt by foreigners, proof with hot eTariff of 1828.
