A

A

Jefferson had just voted against thew National Bank because he thought it was unconstitutional by the Constitution did not state the US could set up a bank. Same goes for buying land. He set up a treaty with Spain to gain the territory, that way there would be no controversy.

A

A

Jackson went on his own mission without authority and got into a perfect position in New Orleans, he then waited for them to arrive. Once they did, His army defeated them handedly. This all happened because word that the war ended did not arrive to the United States yet.

A

It made peace between the United States and Britain because the British realized they could not win, and neither country wanted to fight anymore. It did not resolve any issues that started the war, and the land boundaries stayed the same.

A

It was held because the New England states were thinking about leaving the Union. The New England Colonies argued for a new Constitution, giving them more political power.

A

A.) The United States went to war with Britain because they were violating American shipping rights by stealing goods and ships, and imprisoning men. Also, it was suspected that they were behind the Indian raids in the west.
B.) The farmers supported the war because they were getting threatened by the Indians, and they believed that the United States could conquer Canada.
C.) The New England colonies opposed the war because they were the closest to the water, and the British would attack them first, however, they couldn’t defend themselves because the US didn’t have a strong enough nave.

Essay: Describe the Lewis and Clark expedition and the impact it had on Western Expansion.

A

A.) The Lewis and Clark expedition was meant to explore the newly acquired land and map, write journals, and document all vegetation, animals, Native Americans, geography, soil types, and water ways/types. The expedition would start in St. Louis, Missouri, and they would head north and west towards the Pacific Ocean. Through their expedition, the US also acquired the rights to the Oregon Territory through discovery and exploration.
B.) The impact on Western Expansion was that it gave people confidence that there was something out there, and that they would be able to have their own piece of history. The expedition allowed people to know what they were walking into, and it allowed them to decide if they could do it or not. Also, it gave the government confidence that they got a good deal and they didn’t waste their money.
