Q

Essay - Discuss the Constitutionality of the National Bank with Jefferson and Adams’ ideas.

A

Jefferson: Thought the National Bank was unconstitutional because the Constitution did not state that Congress had the authority to create one. Jefferson did not view economic growth as the nation’s new source of energy. He thought that farming would be sufficient.
Hamilton: Wanted a National Bank because he thought that the people could not be trusted and they needed guidance. He thought that a National Bank would spark industries to grow. In his plan, the bank would be modeled after the Bank of England, and it would have the ability to propose tariffs and other money generating things. He argued that the Constitution didn’t state that they couldn’t have a bank, so he thought it was ok.

22
Q

What were the causes of the Whiskey Rebellion and how did Washington respond?

A

The cause of the Whiskey rebellion were Hamilton’s liquor tax, and the Frontier farmers were not happy about it because they were making good money. Because they opposed it, they started a rebellion in the west.
To handle it, Washington called out the army and told the men to disperse. The army then went in and got men, and the government claimed that they caught 20 men who started it. However, they did not really get even a single person.

23
Q

What happened to the Indians by 1790?

A

The U.S took over their lands in the Northwest.
