EKG Flashcards
What does the presence of a Q wave mean?
Previous MI
cardiac tissue that is not conducting electricity — takes hours - days to develop & remains forever
WHen are Q waves considered pathologic?
- When seen in V1 - V3
- When they are abnormally deep or wide
What is 1st degree heart block?
PR interval > 200 ms
What does the PR interval represent?
Conduction through the AV node
What is the meaning of Δ waves?
Accessory pathway for ventricular contraction (i.e. conduction does bypasses the AV node, so there’s no delay)
- Slurred upstroke into QRS complex
- Short or no PR interval
- Wolf-Parkinson-White Syndrome
What is a 2nd degree Mobitz type 1 block?
Lengthening PR interval followed by a non-conducted p-wave or “dropped beat”
What is a 2nd degree Mobitz type 2 block?
Stable PR interval followed by a non-conducted p-wave or “dropped beat”
(more dangerous than Mobitz type 1)
What is a 2nd degree High Grade block?
2 or more p-waves w/out QRS complex following
T wave is upright in all leads except ____ & ____
aVR & V1
it’s also higher in precordial leads
P wave is normally biphasic in which lead? Monophasic in which lead?
Biphasic in V1
Monophasic in lead II
P wave should be upright in leads ____ & ____ & inverted in lead ____
upright in I & II
inverted in aVR
Describe EKG of 3rd degree heart block.
PR intervals are irregular/changing, but the R-R intervals are regular
