Cranmer’s actions in 1547
- suspended authority of bishops whilst commissioners examined doctrine
- issued a Book of Homilies to be read in parish churches instead of sermons. Homilies were written in English and one argued for justification by faith alone
- ordered bible in English and Protestant literature for everyone
