Occurs in the elderly
Dry skin + excoriations

Due to poor venous return
Bilateral erythematous scaly legs
What are the features of pampholyx eczema?
Clear vesicles
Itchy
Hands + feet
What is the cause of eczema?
Defect in skin barrier function
Defect in filaggrin gene -> reduced structural integrity of stratum corneum
Where does eczema affect in infants?
Face
Extensor surfaces
Where does eczema affect in older children + adults?
Flexor surfaces
What is the conservative management of eczema?
Avoid triggers
Use EASI score each consultation
What is the EASI score?
Eczema Area and Severity Index
Used to assess the severity of eczema
What is the medical management of eczema?
Emollients
Topical steroids - during flares
Anti-histamines
What are the complications of eczema?
Low mood (use DLQI score) Secondary infection
