How does the Echo Sounder work?

A

 A signal is generated and sent to the transducer.
 The transducer sends a pulse out.
 The pulse touches the seafloor and reflects.
 Transducer received the reflection.
 Sends signal to the receiver.
 The receiver shows the display of the depth.

How should the Echo Sounder be maintained?

A

 Transducer must be checked when the vessel is in dry dock.
 Calibration must be conducted periodically.

A

 System errors (signal/transducer/ calibration).
 Operator errors (incorrect scale/ gain).
