Echo Sounder Flashcards
1
Q
How does the Echo Sounder work?
A
A signal is generated and sent to the transducer.
The transducer sends a pulse out.
The pulse touches the seafloor and reflects.
Transducer received the reflection.
Sends signal to the receiver.
The receiver shows the display of the depth.
2
Q
How should the Echo Sounder be maintained?
A
Transducer must be checked when the vessel is in dry dock.
Calibration must be conducted periodically.
3
Q
What are the errors associated with an Echo Sounder?
A
System errors (signal/transducer/ calibration).
Operator errors (incorrect scale/ gain).
Temperature, pressure, salinity errors.
