ECG Rhythms Flashcards
1
Q
What are the lethal arrthymias in order of severity?
A
- Asystole
- V-fib
= Both have NO CO
» no brain perfusion, time is key!!! - V-tach
= has CO, but potentially life-threatening
2
Q
Tx for V-fib
A
D-FIB!!
3
Q
Tx for Asystole
A
- Epinephrine
- Atropine
4
Q
Tx for SVT
A
- ADENOSINE = fast IV push into big vein (<8 secs)
- BETA BLOCKER
- CCB
- DIGOXIN (or LANOXIN)
5
Q
Tx for PVCs and V-tach
A
Lidocaine/Amiodarone
6
Q
A-fib characteristics
A
- No P-wave that precedes QRS
- Irregular pattern
7
Q
V-fib vs V-tach characteristics
A
V-fib = Squiggly line with no pattern
V-tach = sharp “tombstone” peaks w/ pattern
8
Q
PVCs
- When is it concerning?
A
- Tachycardic QRS
Notify HCP when…
= 6 or more PVCs in a minute
= 6 of more PVCs in a row
= If PVC falls on the T-wave of the previous beat (R-T phenomenon)
