16
Q

Hydraulic system 1 and 2: which hydraulic system has the largest reservoir ?

A

Hydraulic system 2.

17
Q

What is the PTU and it’s purpose ?

A

It consists of a hydraulic motor in system 1 that drives a hydraulic pump in system 2. Fluid is NOT transferred. It assist in operation of the landing gear in case of a right engine/EDP failure.

18
Q

Can the PTU be activated on the ground ?

A

No.

19
Q

The PTU is automatically activated when:

A
  • ENG 2 OR EDP 2 fails- Gear OR flaps not up- EDP 1 operational- Hydraulic reservoir 2 > 12%! The PTU does not activate on the ground
20
Q

In an electrical emergency, is ACMP 3B still available ?

A

No.

21
Q

In an electrical emergency, is overheat protection still available for hyd system 3 ?

A

No. The HI TEMP / OVERHEAT messages are disabled together with the pumps being turned off automatically > 125° C

22
Q

ACMP 3B is turned on automatically in-flight when:

A

ACMP 3A fails.

23
Q

In a dual engine failure, you will lose hyd. systems 1 and 2. ACMP 3A is powered by the AC ESS BUS (RAT), however it takes 8sec for the AC ESS BUS to be powered. In the mean time to control the airplane:

A

Hydraulic system 3 accumulator pressure provides pressure to the associated flight controls.

24
Q

Hydraulic system 3 has two dedicated valves, used in in electrical emergency, in order not to overload the RAT:

A
  • Pump unloader valve (reduce discharge pressure during startup)
  • Flow limiter valve
    (reduce the flow)
