What is penile erection dysfunction>
Condition in which the corpus cavernosum does not fill with blood to allow for erection
* Aging process
* Vascular/neuro conditions
Describe phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors
Allows for smooth muscle relaxation and filling of the corpus cavernosum
* Can be timed for sexual activity based on drug onset
* Difference in the various PDE5 is in the onset and duration
* Some last approximately 4 hours (Viagra, Levitra)
* Others last approximately 36 hours (Cialis)
