Activated Charcoal
Class: Absorbent Indi: suspected ingestion of chemicals,drugs Contra:pt’s w compromised airway9need 2 prevent aspiration or obstruction), ingestion of iron or multivitamins Dose 1g/kg adults & peds does not absorb methanol, cyanide, ethanol, sulfate, caustic alkali or mineral acids
Adenosine
Class:antidysrhythmic Indi: SVTor PSVT unresponsive 2 vagal man. Monomorphic VTAC as diagnostic drug(not torsades) Contra: Sinus sick syndrome, 2nd or 3rd heart block, hypovolemia(don’t give b4 fluid bolus) Adult: 6mg,12,12mg rapid IVP, with 10-20ml flush. Ped-.1mg/kg, .2mg/kg,.2mh/kg w/10ml flush
albuterol
class: sympathomimetic bronchodialator(B2 selective) Indi: Acute asthma, COPD, Allergic reaction, near drowning, PE, Toxic gas inhalation/OD Contra;None 2.5mg in 3ml PRN As needed adult and peds
amiodarone
Class-antidysrhythmic Indi:monomorphic v-tach, pulseless vtach/fib symptomatic PVC’s Contra: Cardiogenic shock, brady, Sinus sick syndrome Adult-Arrest 300mg,150mg w 10-20ml flush Wide Complex Tach/symptomatic-150mg slow IVP over 10 min-450mg max Maintenance-.5mg per min (540mg over 18hrs) Peds- VTACH/vfib Arrest-5mg/kgw 10ml flush, MAX 15mg/kg Tachydysrhythmias-5mg/kp IVP/IO over 20-60 min max 15mg/kg
Amyl Nitrate
Class: Nitrate vasodilator Indi: Angina, Hypertx, cyanide poioning Contra: HypoTx, ED meds w/in 36hrs, No contra when treating cyanide poisoning Dose: 1-2 amps(.3mg), crushed & inhaled over 30 sec PRN 1-2 minutes Peds 1amp same prn
