Oxytocin
aka-Pictocin Hormonal agent
Indi: Postpartum hemorrhage after baby or placental delivery uncontrolled by fundal massage or breast feeding, used to induce labor- hospital setting only
Contra-following a cesarean section
Dose-3-10 units IM or 10-20 units in 1L NS or D5W titrated Not for kids
Potassium Chloride
Electrolyte, used for CHF & Kidney failure
Racemic Epinephrine
adrenergic agent, br onchodilator
Indi:Acute bronchial asthma, bronchospasms due to emphysema chronic bronchitis or COPD, CROUP
Contra: epiglottitis, narrow angle glaucoma, use caution w/pt’s who are hytx or Tachy Dose: Adult & Peds- .25-.75 ml of 2.25% racemic epi diluted in 3ml of NS every 1-4 hrs
