Heparin

A

anitcoagulant
Indi: prevention of blood clots, maintain patency of IV
Contra: Patients on throbolytics or anticoagulants, active bleeding or bleeding tendencies
Dose: 5000 units then 20,000-40,000 over 24hrs Peds-50 units/kg then 25U/kg over 24hrs

hydromorphone hydrochloride

A

aka Dilaudid Narcotic analgesic
Indi:moderate to severe pain,persistent cough Contra: ICP, Respeiratory derpr(COPD, status asthmaticus), circulatory compromise Pain Dose- 1-4mg IM, SQ, or slow IVP, pen 4-6 hrs. Peds-no Cough- adults 12+, 1mg cough syrup every 3-4hrs Peds .5mg 3-4 hrs

Ipatropium Bromide

A

(Atrovent) Anticholinergic, bronchodilator
Indi-COPD, allergic reaction, asthma refractory to other B2 agonists (albuterol) Contra-Hypersensitivity to atropine, soybean or peanut products
Dose- .5mg mixes with 2.5mg of Albuterol Peds-.5mg mixed with 5mg albuterol then only give Half
