Heparin indication
Prevention of thrombus formation in acute MI
Heparin contraindication
active bleeding or bleeding tendencies
recent major surgery or trauma
Heparin dose
5000 units IV follow with 20000 to 40000 units IV over 24 hours.
Heparin side effects
potentially life threatening bleeding.
May cause hematologic disorder.

cyanide toxicity

absolute: none
relative: history of anaphylactic reaction to the drug.

5 grams (2 vials) over 15 minutes

Flushing, urticaria, itching, rash, chest tightness, dyspnea, transient BP elevation, anaphylaxis, red skin, tears, sweat, and urine.
