Differential Diagnosis
Characterized by food restriction that leads to a significantly low weight, relative to a person’s age height, and sex, as well as fear of gaining weight
Anorexia nervosa
Individuals experience episodes of binge-eating in which they consume a large amount of food and feel out of control while they eat, often following a period of food restriction.
Bulimia nervosa
Reoccurring bing-eating without the regular, inappropriate compensatory behaviors to try to rid the body of calories.
Binge-eating disorder (BED)
Eating a large amount of food in a specific time period (e.g., less than two hours)

Purging
Means of assessing significantly low weight - weight is in kilograms divided by height in metres squared.

EDE- Eating Disorder Examination
Individuals who self-induce vomiting have scrapes or calluses on the backs of hands or knuckles
Russell’s sign
Variables that occur prior to the onset of the disorder, which prospectively predict the disorder’s onset
Risk Factors
A variable that leads the symptoms to persist after their onset
