Dopamine Flashcards
Indications & field use of Dopamine
Symptomatic bradycardia
Hemodynamically significant hypotension in the absence of Hypovolemia
Cardiogenic or septic shock (only after fluids administered)
Mechanism of action of Dopamine
Immediate metabolic precursor to norepinephrine
B1 stimulant action
Increase cardiac output
Partially antagonizes the a-adrenergic-mediated vasoconstriction
Contraindications of Dopamine
Hypovolemic shock
MAO inhibitors, such as Marplan, Nardil, or Parnate
Adverse reactions of Dopamine in CV
Cardiac arrhythmias due to increased myocardial O2 demand
Hypertension
Hypotension at low doses
Adverse reactions of Dopamine in GI
Nausea
Vomit
Adverse reactions of Dopamine in GU
Renal shutdown
Routes of administration of Dopamine
IV infusion
Brand name of dopamine
Intropin
